Tracking the physical book from press to you
Random: How to Thrive in an Unpredictable World is a book published as 120 unbound cards — designed to be shuffled, drawn at random, and read in no particular order. The reading experience is itself an encounter with randomness.
The physical cards were printed in China and are currently aboard the OOCL PIRAEUS, a 399-metre container ship, making their way to the UK. The map above shows the vessel's near-real-time position via AIS (Automatic Identification System) data. Updates may be sparse in open ocean; coverage improves near coastlines and ports.
